Further support and advice?
• The Every Action Counts Programme (www.everyactioncounts.org.uk) is designed to help community groups across England get involved in simple environmentally friendly, including low carbon, actions. The initiative aims to create 1000 Community Champions who will be trained to help groups in their community to plan simple actions to: save energy, travel wisely, shop ethically, save resources and care for their area. A free two-day course is available to show people how to work with community groups to help them become more environmentally aware. Supporting materials including a ‘toolkit’ will be provided. Register with Every Action Counts to get some great ideas and exciting materials which can help you get everyone involved.
• Community Action for Energy (CAfE) is a programme from the Energy Saving Trust that is designed to promote and facilitate local community-based energy projects. Membership of the network is free and by joining you can keep up to date with news on community-based energy initiatives, as well as hearing about funding opportunities, training sessions and other news from the network. Community groups are entitled to up to 1.5 free days of the Energy Savings Trust’s time. To find out more about the CafE programme and support available contact the CAfE team on cafe@est.org.uk or call the helpline on 08701 261 444.
