bordeaux quay's low carbon story

At Bordeaux Quay we are working to reduce our energy use in order to work within our fair share of carbon emissions. We consider this in every aspect of what we do.

Some examples of how we are doing this are: we use low energy light bulbs throughout the building and motion sensors on the lights in the toilets and back of house areas; we havesolar hot water panels on the roof to reduce the energy requirement on the hot water boiler; we harvest rainwater to flush the toilets to reduce our consumption of tap water (which requires a significant amount of energy to produce).

By creating a large sky light and opening up more windows, the building has been designed to maximise natural light, further reducing our lighting energy consumption.

We consider the embedded energy in everything we source, we buy predominantly local and organic produce, we also use recycled paper for our menus and unbleached recycled paper napkins in the Brasserie.  We recycle as much as we can and are constantly working to improve on this.

It is essential that everyone, individually and as organisations, take responsibility for their impact on our environment, which is why Bordeaux Quay are supporting Fair Shares, Fair Choice.
