FSFC featured at Bristol Climate Countdown

24th October 2009

Fair Shares, Fair Choice featured at Bristol Climate Countdown, 24 October, Millenium Square, Bristol as part of 350.org Day of Action.

Oxfam, The Converging World and Christian Aid ran an afternoon of fun with music, dancing, films, art, speakers and stalls to highlight the need for action on climate change and the importance of the right deal being negotiated at the Copenhagen Climate Summit in December. Charity Sustainability South West, who co-ordinate the Fair Shares, Fair Choice campaign, hosted a climate change information stand for people to receive information to help them work out and reduce their carbon footprint.

This event was one of over 5,000 throughout the world held on the International Day of Climate Action, focusing on the number 350, as in parts per million - the level scientists have identified as the safe upper limit for CO2 in our atmosphere. The Fair Shares, Fair Choice campaign uses 350ppm when calculating globally fair and safe personal carbon shares - the Fair Shares, Fair Choice personal share for UK residents in 2009 is 3.9 tonnes C02 per person.
